The 5 Hottest Spots in Del Mar Right Now

As the phrase goes Del Mar is as cool as ever – and there are lots of reasons why this seaside village is the place to be right now. This North County destination has something to offer everyone looking for the best of the Southern California lifestyle. Here’s what is hot right now:

The Patio at Night at L’Auberge

It’s no secret that the Living Room at L’Auberge is the central gathering place in Del Mar before and after the races and now L’Auberge offers a new dining venue called The Patio at Night Pop up. It’s Farm Truck to Al Fresco Dining with Wine & Beer Flights and an ever-changing, directly-from-the-farm menu created by Executive Chef Nathan Lingle. The patio is casually romantic, complete with ocean breezes, private dining cabanas and umbrella-ed tables, fire pits, a waterfall and alluring hanging lanterns. It’s happening through October – every Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wine Wednesdays feature market priced bottles and no corkage fees. And throughout the Pop-up, guests will be entertained nightly by local performers.

Del Mar City Beach

Trip Advisor recently announced the 20 Best Beaches in San Diego Countyand invited its visitors to vote for their favorite. It’s no surprise that Del Mar City Beach made the list or that it appears to be the #1 beach among the voters. At the time of publishing – Del Mar holds a commanding lead for first place with 39% of all the votes. And what’s not to love about the beach in Del Mar - the two plus miles of sandy beach offers a great place to relax, walk, or run. Two coastal parks, Powerhouse and Seagrove Parks, are located just above the 15th Street surf break; providing a great spot to picnic with friends and family. The Powerhouse Park also features a barefoot friendly, dog free "tot lot," where kids can play on swings, slides, and climb. And Del Mar Beach is a favorite with four-legged friends as well. North Beach, affectionately called “Dog Beach” by dog owners, is located north of 29th Street and stretches nearly one-half mile to Solana Beach. Del Mar has maintained its status as a dog friendly city since incorporation in 1959. Nine months of the year, dogs are allowed along the entire two plus mile stretch of beach in addition to the city’s two major parks, Seagrove Park and Powerhouse Park. While many residents and visitors enjoy all areas of the beach, the most popular location for owners to bring their canines is the North Beach area.
