Senate bill 1383

As of January 1, 2022, recycling organic waste is mandatory under State law due to Senate Bill (SB) 1383. The City has developed a resource to provide you comprehensive information about SB 1383 and the actions that your business needs to take to comply with organic recycling and surplus edible food recovery.

For additional information and resources, visit the EDCO Website or contact Dawn Cox with EDCO. She can schedule a site visit to walk you through and help implement an organics program. Dawn can be reached at 619-357-8994 or dcox@edcodisposal.com.

Del Mar's Municipal Code (Chapter 11.20 Management of Solid Waste, Section 11.20.270) has also been updated to include the requirements that commercial edible food generators need to follow.
