72 Hours in Del Mar: A Fall Local's Itinerary
Day 1: Settle Into the Slow Season
Check-In & Stroll
Check into Del Mar Beach Hotel, the Village's only true oceanfront stay, recently reimagined with coastal-chic rooms and front-row Pacific views. From your door, it's a short walk to Powerhouse Park for the sunset.
Lunch
Head to Beeside Balcony for Mediterranean and Californian plates on a shaded outdoor patio. Don’t miss their specials during happy hour including $1 fresh oysters and 50% off wine for wine Wednesdays.
Evening
Settle in at Queenstown Public House for cheeky burgers, craft cocktails, and a patio that has views of the Pacific Ocean.
Day 2: Wander the Village + Pumpkin Patch
Morning
Start at Lyric Coffee, tucked into the L'Auberge lobby with a musical pedigree and one of the best pours in the Village. Swing through the Del Mar Plaza for a quick browse — Camino Books for something to read, Seabiscuit for clothing or BeachCity for great gifts.
Afternoon
Head to the Fairgrounds for Del Mar Pumpkin Station — free parking, free admission, and a proper fall reset. Pick your pumpkin from the patch, take a spin on the antique carousel, and get the whole crew on the giant slides before golden hour hits. (Open daily Sept 26–Oct 26.)
Evening
Wind down with a Fall Italian meal at Il Fornaio Del Mar. Known for their fresh seafood, steak, and pasta all served with ocean views.
Day 3: Wind Down & Depart
Morning
Treat yourself to a treatment at NIKS Medical Spa, then shop around town making sure to check out Shine Natural Market — a little reset before the drive home.
Before You Leave
Stock up on local goods at Valley Farm Market, then grab one last coastal meal at Tamarindo before hitting the road.
