Get to know Sea Biscuit: Kelly Wells, Owner
Tell us your backstory: What was your path to owning a business in Del Mar Village? Did you grow up here? Why did you choose Del Mar Village to set up shop?
I've worked in fashion and retail for my entire career and realized after leaving New York that I really wanted to be back in the store, with the customers, making people feel great! The second I stepped foot in the Plaza, I knew I wanted to have a shop here. Luckily Sea Biscuit already existed, with a stellar team, and a previous owner motivated to sell! So, here we are!
Tell us about your business. What should people know about it? What makes it unique?
We sell high end women’s clothing, footwear and accessories with a merchandising focus on building out your wardrobe, and our associates establish relationships with their clients that support this philosophy. We've also got some fantastic giftable home goods!
What is one product or service you are most known for or is particularly special to you?
We are constantly turning over new product, but one thing that never changes...we offer a glass of rosè while you shop!
Tell us one fun fact about your business most people don't know.
We have tasty dog biscuits for your pup, so bring them in to shop with you!
What do you love about Del Mar Village?
The sense of community among the patrons as well as the business owners. We all have each others’ back!
How would you spend the perfect day in Del Mar? Where would you go? What would you eat or do?
My perfect day in Del Mar would be to grab an iced mocha, then stroll north on main street toward Del Mar Plaza, but stopping along the way in all the boutiques – I love to shop, it's a problem. Powerhouse Park/beach with a smoothie from Elixir, and then at some point, end up at Monarch Ocean Pub with a dragonfruit margarita and happy hour fish sandwich with my husband and daughters.
